Published: 2024-07-24

A hand grenade was thrown into a store in Södertälje, Sweden, on the evening of July 23, resulting in a serious injury to a woman in her 60s.

Witnesses reported seeing a man in dark clothing throw the grenade before fleeing the scene.

The explosion occurred just before the store was set to close, with around ten people present inside at the time.

The incident is believed to be linked to recent shootings in the area, which police suspect are part of an ongoing gang conflict.

A teenage boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and causing public danger.

Authorities are considering re-establishing a search zone in the area due to the heightened risk of further violence.
