Amir Mekky, a 27-year-old alleged leader of the notorious Malmö gang "Los Suecos," has been charged with serious drug and weapon offenses.

Mekky, who has been a significant figure in Malmö's criminal underworld, is accused of orchestrating a large-scale cocaine operation across Europe and Sweden, involving 54 kilograms of cocaine valued at over 50 million kronor.

The charges stem from evidence obtained through the encrypted communication service Encrochat, which revealed Mekky's detailed management of drug trafficking activities.

Although he admits to the drug-related charges, Mekky denies any involvement in weapon offenses.

Arrested in Dubai in 2020, Mekky was extradited to Sweden, where he now faces trial.

The case highlights the extensive reach of organized crime networks and the challenges law enforcement faces in dismantling them.
