A teacher in Höör Municipality, fired after a noted altercation with a student, has received 800,000 SEK in a settlement at the Labor Court, reports Sydsvenskan.
The incident occurred last May when the teacher reprimanded a student during a break, leading to a scuffle.
The school's then-principal deemed the teacher's actions provocative, and a video showed the teacher applying a chokehold on the student.
The student was later fined for threatening an official, while the investigation against the teacher was dropped as police viewed it as self-defense.
Despite this, the teacher was dismissed, and an ongoing investigation by the Swedish Schools Inspectorate threatens the teacher's certification.
