Ahead of the upcoming EU elections, false information about electoral fraud is spreading in several EU countries, with Germany and Spain being notably affected.
The disinformation, which includes claims of invalid ballots and double voting, is at its highest level in a year, according to the European Digital Media Observatory.
Additionally, a pro-Russian influence campaign aims to undermine European governments and boost far-right parties.
This campaign, known as "Doppelgänger," uses cloned websites of reputable news outlets to spread propaganda and has been active since at least May 2022. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to reduce support for Ukraine among EU countries.
