An 85-year-old man was seriously injured after being hit by a car in Ljungskile on the old E6 road.

The accident occurred at a crossing near the town center, prompting a major emergency response.

Witnesses performed CPR using a defibrillator before paramedics arrived.

The man, initially in cardiac arrest, was revived and airlifted to Sahlgrenska University Hospital.

His condition remains critical.

Police have seized the vehicle for investigation and are treating the case as potential traffic negligence and causing bodily harm.
