The E6 highway in Stenungsund has reopened on July 5, 2024, after being closed for nine months due to a massive landslide.
Residents of Ucklum, who experienced an additional 10,000 vehicles per day rerouted through their village, are relieved.
The reopening was celebrated with a BBQ party, and King Carl XVI Gustaf led the inauguration ceremony.
The reconstruction is estimated to cost Stenungsund municipality over a quarter billion SEK.
Despite the challenges, there was a silver lining as the local sea trout benefitted from the environmental changes.
