A species of fish dating back to the dinosaur era is making a return to Swedish waters.
The Atlantic sturgeon, which can grow over 5 meters and weigh more than 600 kilos, will be reintroduced into the Göta River.
This effort is led by the Swedish Anglers Association, with support from Gothenburg Natural History Museum, Gothenburg University, and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences.
The reintroduction aims to improve the ecosystem, which has suffered from the species' extinction due to overfishing and pollution in the late 1800s.
With better water quality now, scientists hope these fish will thrive and bring balance to the river's ecosystem.
