Controversial Researcher Paid to Leave Malmö University

Published: 2024-05-05

A researcher at Malmö University, known for praising Iran, Russia, and the Taliban, has been paid 728,000 SEK (about $70,000) to resign.

This controversial figure has made claims that Russia does not bomb civilian targets in Ukraine and has shown support for the Taliban movement in Afghanistan and Iran.

In addition to these contentious statements, the researcher was accused of unprofessional behavior, including disrespect and discrimination, notably favoring black students over white, and suggesting white students needed to undergo a 'de-whitening process.

' Despite participating in a conference in Iran against university orders, the researcher denied any wrongdoing.

The settlement, equivalent to 16 months' salary, concludes a dispute without a decision from the university's personnel responsibility board.
