A chlorine gas leak at the newly renovated swimming pool in Delsbo prompted an emergency evacuation, sending at least nine individuals to the hospital with non-serious injuries.
The incident occurred when chemicals were mixed improperly, resulting in the release of the harmful gas known for causing severe irritation to the eyes and mucous membranes.
Around 30 people were present at the pool during the leak, with some being transported to the hospital via ambulance and others making their own way.
The local fire department managed the evacuation and emphasized that the injuries mainly included coughing and respiratory discomfort.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident as a workplace accident and potential cause of bodily harm.
