A chemical tanker carrying sulfuric acid overturned on the E18 highway near Villingsberg, between Karlskoga and Örebro, on Saturday morning.

The accident, which was a single-vehicle incident, caused the truck to end up on its roof after crashing through the median barrier.

Emergency services are on-site, working to contain a significant diesel leak, although no sulfuric acid is reported to be leaking from the tanker.

The driver managed to exit the vehicle and is unharmed, with no other injuries reported.

Traffic is completely halted in both directions, and authorities estimate that the cleanup and recovery efforts will take up to eight hours.

Motorists are being diverted to alternative routes as the situation unfolds.
