A young boy, around 6 years old, was critically injured during a tree felling accident outside Haparanda on Tuesday morning.

The boy was cycling when a tree fell on him.

He is now receiving treatment in the intensive care unit at Sunderby Hospital.

Police have opened an investigation, led by a special prosecutor for environmental and workplace incidents.

Stora Enso, the company responsible for the tree felling, has committed to a thorough investigation of the incident.
