Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Billström has been named a favorite to become the country's next EU Commissioner, according to several media outlets including Sveriges Radio and Expressen.

Despite these reports, Billström stated via his press secretary that he is not available for the position.

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson is expected to announce the new Commissioner by the first week of August.

If chosen, Billström would be the first Swedish Moderate to hold the EU Commissioner position.
